Wigandia caracasana

Wigandia caracasana
This robust shrub from Venezuela grows to about 3 metres and is much sort after because of the impressive large leaves which can grow to about 40cm long. These leaves are a bit hairy and are said to be irritant to the skin but I have not noticed any problem with them. The pretty violet coloured flowers are held in terminal clusters and are quite profuse.
2017 update: I no longer have a plant of it.
