Hibiscus coccineus ,Swamp Hibiscus

Hibiscus coccineus Swamp Hibiscus
This water garden plant is so glorious in summer and always a surprise to see in flower after vanishing in winter and then arising as it does from a stem of gawky serrated palm like leaves. The flowers are a brilliant scarlet with a varnished glossy centre.

2017 update: I don't grow this currently. Plants are available in Sydney from the Growing Friends Nursery at the Royal Botanic Gardens
